The significance of this day marks a collective moment of recognition of the dedication of individuals within the long-term care community, including volunteers, staff and families who provide essential support and care to thousands of people living in long-term care homes throughout Canada. It is estimated Canada will require 454,000 long-term care beds by 2035 and that 50% of people over the age of 65 living in Canada will require some kind of long-term care in their lifetime.<sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>National Long-Term Care Day offers a chance to express gratitude and appreciation, emphasizing the role the long-term care community plays in enriching the lives of many. With support from MPs in the House of Commons today, in particular by MP Marie-France Lalonde, CALTC aims to foster greater awareness and appreciation for the crucial work of caregivers, while also advocating for the continued improvement and advancement of long- term care services across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI am immensely proud to celebrate the first National Long-Term Care Day in Canada. This is a momentous achievement and stands as a testament to the collective contributions and accomplishments of the long-term care community.
