Our Policy and Advocacy Committees
CALTC has three standing committees which help develop CALTC’s policy positions and advocacy priorities.
Policy and Knowledge Translation Committee
The Policy and Knowledge Translation Committee is the main policy development branch of CALTC. The Committee is responsible for identifying current, emerging or anticipated policy issues affecting long-term care homes and residents. The Committee identifies policy priorities and supports the development of CALTC’s position positions. The Committee also works to develop and share best practice among members covering both the clinical and operational aspects of long-term care homes.
Communications, Engagement and Public Affairs Committee
The Communications, Engagement and Public Affairs Committee oversees and advises on all CALTC’s communications and advocacy activities. The
Committee is responsible for supporting the development and approval of CALTC’s communications and government relations strategies, ensuring they align with CALTC’s overarching strategic priorities. The Committee is also responsible for identifying opportunities to raise the profile of the long-term care sector and raise awareness of the challenges facing long-term care homes across Canada.
Long-Term Care Medical Directors and Clinician Advisory Committee
The Medical Directors and Clinician Advisory Committee works with the CALTC CEO to support CALTC’s policy development and advocacy efforts,
including through advice to the Policy and Knowledge Translation Committee and the Engagement, Communications and Public Affairs Committee. The Committee seeks opportunities for collaboration with stakeholder partners and related clinical organizations, and identifying priorities and challenges from a clinical perspective. The Committee focuses on developing the role of Medical Directors, Attending Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Pharmacists working in long-term care.
