This week the Canadian Association for Long Term Care is pleased to celebrate nurses across the country during National Nursing Week. This year’s theme, #WeAnswerTheCall, was developed by the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) to showcase the many important roles that nurses in every part of our health sector play, including the important role nurses play in long term care homes.
The role of the nurse has always been deeply valued in long term care, but their courage and commitment to residents in long term care homes through out the pandemic has been heroic.
The pandemic has affected Canadians living in long-term care and their families in unfathomable ways. Through it all, long-term care nurses have worked tirelessly to protect the health and well-being of our seniors. Their compassion and strength have helped to guide us through.
Over my career I have had the privilege of working with countless long-term care nurses who have shown an unparalleled dedication to their profession and those they care for. Our staff are critically important to our mission so that seniors can live and age with dignity. We are incredibly grateful for the care that nurses deliver in long-term care homes across Canada each day, and we are committed to continuing to do all we can to support them. We know there are still challenges ahead in long term care, but we also know nurses will continue to answer the call as we all work together to improve senior care in Canada.
This week, it is my pleasure to celebrate nurses and thank them for caring for their fellow Canadians. On behalf of the Canadian Association for Long-term Care, happy National Nursing Week!
Sincerely,
Jodi Hall
